Gabion Wall
Projects
Utuado & San Sebastián, P.R.
These projects addressed severe damage from Hurricane María in Utuado and San Sebastián by stabilizing the terrain and preventing future landslides. Gabion walls were built to reinforce slopes and protect roadways, which were also rebuilt with drainage openings to prevent water buildup. More than structural fixes, they restore safe access and contribute to the region’s long-term recovery and resilience.

In San Sebastián, a drainage opening was installed between the wall and the road to prevent water accumulation and reduce the risk of future damage.

In Utuado, the damaged roadway was rebuilt to restore safe access for both vehicles and residents.

As part of the recovery in Utuado, the terrain was stabilized to provide long-term protection against future storm impacts.
